Has anyone stepped up to lead "TEAM MUSTANG" yet?

Last thing I heard from Russ "Frenchy" Truex was he wasn't racing this Spring so if we gots a Mustang team captain let me know who he or she is?. . .IF we don't;

Remember the Team Captains get a $100 discount off their entry fees and each qualifying member that pays his entry fees at least 2-weeks in advance of the event gets a $25. discount off their entry fee.
Let me know if you want to volunteer or have questions. If you can FOG up a mirror, collect names of your team you can be captain of a team!!! ;-]

I am probably not going to make it. My engine should finally be done late next week and hopefully I can finish it by then. The oil pump gear finally showed up from Sean Hyland's today. I have been waiting until December for that gear. If it looks like I have a prayer of making it, I'll take the team. If not, I'll take December's for sure.
Rory,
I hope you make it for May. Sorry Dog, I am not a leader, I will be busy at the blender and I have to stay close to Fidel to keep him out of trouble.
First report from the Dyno:
Ignition failure at 6,000RPM, the Supercharger blew the flame out on the plugs. About 500RWHP and Torque @ 6000rpm. There is another 1200 left in the RPM range. I installed a MSD box to fix the problem. After I get 300 miles on the clock it's back to the Dyno for the final tune. Should net 550 to 575RWHP, low 525-535 range on Torque. Not bad for 281 cubic inches. Wheeeeeeeee!!!!!! May is getting close!

Don't tell me, tell Sean Hyland to keep more of the pump gears in stock. Since the engine failed due to oil starvation, I went paranoid to make sure that wouldn't happen again. I just didn't think to order the gear back in October so I would have it by February (silly me). I'm not that important so they put me in line behind Joe's repair shop in Saskatchewa. Now I'm learning that I was shipped the wrong rings also but fortunately Total Seal is here in Phoenix. However, they custom make these parts after you order them in a day or two (Sean, are you listening?).

Anyway, if by some miracle I get the engine in and tested on the track here in Phoenix, I might still make it. However, I just don't want to commit to taking the team if I don't make it. However, getting dissed by other Ford teams is cold. That's like spreading rumors about your sister. You should be more supportive, Dog. I didn't dis you for smoking your car in a no smoking race.
Rory,
Make sure you put silicone sealer in the keyway on your harmonic balancer before you install it, otherwise you get to do it after the motor is in the car and you spend a day or two looking for the source of the leak. Not that i ever had to do such a task (like last night). Good luck! BTW, the hyland gears in my motor are working quite well, you will be happy.

Thanks Tim. I hadn't heard that about the keyway but I will pass it on to the shop rebuilding the engine. I'm hoping they are done by the end of the week and I'm guessing about 3 weeks for me to pop it in.

Can I ask you another question though? Did you use the stock engine mounts or is there another manufacturer with stronger mounts?

Just got a ride in Rob Beabien's new Fiero though. Rob raced last year when I was the navigator. He put a 3.1 liter s/c engine in there and is planning on running in September with me once the final details get worked out. Nothing like 300hp in a 2600lb car. It just needs a Blue Oval logo on it.
Hi Rory,
I have the full Griggs Racing GR-40 setup in my car. It uses custom mounts made by them. I just saw that someone has aftermarket mounts for the stock setup, might have been Steeda. Ditch the stockers, I broke three of them before I put the Supercharger on. IMHO, get the Griggs setup (www.griggsracing.com). At least the front stuff for now while the engine is out. You can install yourself VERY easy. The horsepower you are about to unleash will not work well with a stock K-Member. Just my .02.

Good Luck,

I have a D&D k-member and full coil-over setup already. I'm pretty comfortable with it but in retrospect I wish I knew more back then and looked at the HPM SLA front end down the road after I get a bunch of other higher priority stuff done. Not that I have any complaints about the D&D stuff. It was night and day over the stock front end. Anyway, I'll call Griggs when I get back in the states on monday and see what they have. Thanks.
