I have heard that some brand of racing harness can be rebuilt/re-certified so it can lower the cost compared to throwing it out and buying new every few years. Does anyone know which vendor does this?
Hi Steve, I get mine "re-webbed" by Simpson. It's still not cheap, and they actually just send me new belts. So maybe there's another vendor that really does it.
I use Teamtech belts. They reweb. But as Tom states still not cheap. I like Teamtech because they have a belt that is made specifically to fit the Hans device.
Gary has a good point about deciding whether you want the 3-inch to 2-inch slim down of the shoulder belts to better fit a HANS. Simpson offers this feature too. I use it because I use a HANS, but you will probably not pass Tech if you have that slim down feature without showing the inspector that you have a HANS.
Good luck, Irish!
Thanks guys - turns out many vendors re-web. Given I will just run in Grand Touring next time harness will be brand new so not an issue yet. Just wanted to make sure I bought from an outfit that would re-do.
I use Crow brand and it's $60 to recertify a set with camlocks + shipping. When I first started this stuff years ago, I called them with a couple questions. Fred Crow himself took the time to educate me on belts. Great service.
Hey Steve, the Crow deal that Blue describes sounds like a low cost way to go.
