In today's Las Vegas Review-Journal 6/25/2002 Page 3C follows:

"A lake Tahoe-area resident racing in the Bonneville 100 crashed and died Sunday, canceling the conclusion of the open-road race in the high desert near Wendover along the Nevada-Utah line.

Whitley Arthur (Bud) Ridenour Jr. 64, of Incline Village was driving his corvette an estimated 200 mph when a tire blew, flipping the car several times, authorities said."

I met "Bud" for the first time in Ely for the last event. Great guy, great vette, buddy, you will be missed by both Sheri and I. My best to your loved ones. Frowner

Many racers queued up at the line waiting to run the second leg urged management to not run the northbound leg!We all have a great sense of loss! MKM management made the decision to not run the northbound leg.Could we consider not posting speculation and press stuff until the authorities issue a statement? Lets all get back on the horse and have fun! That's how Bud would want it! At least that is what we talked about at dinner on Friday preceding the event!
