The Sandhills Open Road Challenge recently finished up and one of our own, Charlie Friend, was there racing his Tahoe of all things.  If that alone doesn't beat all, take in the fact he placed FIRST in his speed class beating out two Corvettes.

You can read more about Team Pantera Racing at SORC as well as Charlie's first place finish in The Arnold Sentinel:

Awesome job Charlie!

Fly low, fly fast, on time, on target.

Asa Jay,

Thanks for the good words. The Corvair just wasn't quite ready and the weather forecast was for thunderstorms on both race days. So rather than going to the hassle of towing to the event and then getting rained out, just decided to only take the "tow car" and run that in the slowest class in both events. I ended up placing 1st in both of the events. A little luck involved there!!! At any rate...a win is a win. Right? I will have the Corvair at the Silver State.

Charlie,

Great to hear you are bringing the Corvair back.  It's always very cool to see someone get through the adversity of an incident like that, or what Mad Dog went through years ago, and come back fighting.

If I can convince Dennis not to leave the finish line so early (slim chance of that by the way), maybe we can meet you there for a small victory celebration.
