Hi Julie and Wally, Neither the start nor the finish are exactly on mile markers anymore. Here are a couple of my measurements that might help: Start 0.000 County Line sign 9.402 LN-14 83.571 LN-10 87.590 LN-8 89.572 Finish 90.000 Blue has published some Rookie Notes that show slightly different mileages (see attached). Jerry, I read the rules several times before I signed up, but that does not mean that I necessarily understood all of them. I understand that first time drivers can sign up for a target speed of up to 130 mph. I went with 125 because I am not sure my car will be tech'ed for Grand Sport yet, but I want to be able to do some time near 140mph. It is my intent on having the car teched for GS by May, but one never knows. If you have any specific rule in mind that I may have misunderstood, please...

Hi Mark. In the 110 class you are not required per the rules to have a bar. Up through 150 avg (165 tech - Grand Sport) the rules call for a 4-pt bar. I have the Autopower in my TA. Does the job and it's not expensive. I had it installed by Autopower in San Diego for $460 out the door.

The important features are: 1) loud and clear enough for your ride and speed; 2) full duplex so you can converse in the normal way; 3) earpieces for both ears -- it's amazing how in a noisy environment it is so much harder to understand conversation when it is in only one ear! I have the Chatterbox -- I forget if it's the 40 or 50. It is full duplex and has earpieces on both ears. I found it's volume sufficient for riding with Ted Zaleski in his ZR-1 in the 150 class. Keith, Gary or Sean, The rules for Grand Sport Division state that "A padded helmet support (headrest) is required." Margaret and I both wear the high density foam collars--Simpson calls them "padded neck supports". Is that what the rule refers to ("headrest" sounds like something different)? Re: 5 PT. Harness system required ?

David Carpenter ·
I have a C-5 w/o sport seats. No pass thru for belts. 5 pt harness HAS to go around upper part of seats. If I didn't use a sternum belt---the harness would simply fall off my shoulders---even without the stress of racing. Now they are as snug at the end as they were to start. Over the seat can be a problem with 'y' harness. Each case is different. If the seat back is tall, angle can be right or wrong for stress load. Or it falls off the side of seat back. If seat back is low, you've got a...

Having the UNL start an hour earlier may be a good idea on 318, but may not be safe on 278. I am concerned about animals on the road. There have been very few animals on 318 -- I believe the largest one to get hit was a turkey vulture. However, 278 is more similar to Pony Express and Gamblers Run, and I know of four incidents involving deer on those courses. Two of them were course workers colliding with a deer on their way to their gates. The other two, thank goodness, were not collisisons,...

Please lighten up on Boyce. He is enthusiastic and that is good for the sport. The only person his statements are likely to be used against by an insurance company is himself. Regarding the insurance issue, I remember back in the 1980's I was driving a Porsche 944 Club Sport Turbo (specially built by Porsche for 24 hour endurance racing). It might be possible to form a non-profit corporation or an LLC as some type of mutual assurance society. The members contribute an amount based on some estimate of their risk to form a fund. The risk would be determined by factors, such as, the more expensive the car, the faster you go, the less experience as a driver, the more events you run a year, and the riskier the course, the less likely it is that the member's car insurance would cover the loss. If there is an incident and the...

Unless you always rely on someone else forming an opinion for you then it is safe to go back to the shop. :headbang: The coverage by HRTV, Car Craft and Mustang Monthly will draw new players to our sport and help fill the fields.Marko, Miles and the HRTV guys are big time gearheads.

Interesting video to say the least. After watching the video my guess would be all of his "Experence" was gained while sitting on the couch playing Nintendo or X-Box. Well, like I said before.....That is 100% driver error in my opinion. That car was straight for a long time after the tire blew.....The mistake was made with the downshift at either to high a rpm or into the wrong gear. That is why no waiver.... Or road course experience is a substitute for this kind of event. The only training is time and miles at speed. That is why it is important to move up slowly in this sport. That's what is kind of funny. I can't speak for anyone else but being an...

I think the SSCC Board has learned a lot from the 350z incident/accident during the September event, both about what should be allowed and what should not be allowed, and I'm confident that the rules will be changed or enforced more strictly and uniformly to ensure that people aren't allowed to endanger themselves or endanger the future of the events. I remember years ago no burn outs where allowed at all during the parade. It was DQ for those that chose to do it. This may not be in the written rules, but it sure makes common sense in the unwritten rules. Would anybody's insurance cover a situation where some spectator got hurt during a parade? I doubt it.
