Thanks Crazy Dave.....looking forward to seeing you and all the other bizarre characters of this "thing we do" . No one gets it unless they keep coming back again and again.

Was at a POCA club dinner in Monterey 2 weeks ago and I asked if any of the guys who had Pantera's were running SS this year.

there was a long silence followed by someone who looks like Tom who said,

"You guy's are crazy"

gots to give our POCA prez a well done as he is driving Pantera from Illinois....and he said

"hey relax Mad Dawg....I am going this year"

Hello Dennis, look forward to seeing the Pantera's. Do you know Bob Benson by chance? I've run several events against his Black Pantera.

George

Yes, we know Bob and we bust his chops every now and then about not making SSCC anymore.  Usually he uses some lame excuse about a Virginia City Hill Climb being the same weekend... or something like that.

Bob -has- run the SSCC before, back when it wasn't unusual to have anywhere from seven to 10 Panteras entered.  We do miss him.

However, he -was- very generous some years ago with a raffle prize from the Pantera Owners Club of America Fun Rally.  The raffle is a separate event but it's held right after the banquet for the annual Fun Rally.

Bob donated a certificate for a full stainless tube cooling set for a Pantera from one of the Pantera vendors.  I used that donation on my 1973 DeTomaso Pantera L and ran it in SSCC three times.

Bob is a really great guy and a really great "car" guy.  He has a very nice shop that he's opened up on a few occasions for fellow car enthusiasts and Pantera owners.

Next time you see him, say you ran into Asa Jay and Dennis and the other self-described reprobates that make up Team Pantera Racing.

We talk about him every now and then on the Team Pantera Racing web site too:

So, there you go.

Dang it Asa,

You're such a lovable car guy, it's too bad you hang out with that dastardly dare do well Mad Dawg.  I really like Panteras, as long as they don't leave parts on the highway for the others to run over.  Classic Italian lines, Ford powered, I wished I could have the foresight to buy one when they were cheap.

Hope to see you both in September,

George

Yes George ...BOBO Bob is Asa's friend. Because everyone is Asa's friend.

Bob got tired of going slower then me so the slacker quit ORR events. Now I am slower then everyone

He is so f'ing huge we had to put a new floor pan in his Pantera

LOL, yes Bob is a big man and a great guy.

George

My main man Owen!

Maybe we need to further improve the Pantera with all wheel drive and a lift kit okay maybe next year.

Right now the new engine and transaxle, suspension and every seal, hose and line replaced. Just a final tune on the EFI, alignment and some road testing and avoiding any Murphy issues she will be ready to ride later this month.

No sleep needed.... but on the grass how can you tell?
